Irreplaceable … That’s how I would describe these images.
Some of you might recognize Morgan, our Office Manager (and my sister). When she asked me about doing maternity photos for their second child they were in the process of selling their home. Their first home together, the place they got engaged and where they brought home their first baby. So, taking the photos at their home for the last time was a must.
We photographed the session at all their favorite spots - the steps, the barn, the front porch, the tire swing grandpa hung up. The places that held so many ordinary moments that eventually became the memories they'll cherish forever.
The very next day, they closed the chapter on that property, packed up the house that had been the backdrop to so many milestones, and stepped into a brand-new season of life. Just a short time later, they welcomed their second sweet baby into the world.
It's easy to think of photographs as images, but sessions like this remind me they're so much more than that. They're a way of holding onto a season that's about to change. A way to remember the home, the anticipation, the excitement, and the family as it was in that exact moment.
You can buy a new house. You can move to a new town. Life will keep moving forward. But you can never recreate this chapter exactly as it was.
So, like I said … irreplaceable.
