Laney Albers - Wesclin High School - Clinton County Senior Photographer

Laney was one of our first destination seniors from Wesclin High School. When we met for her pre-session consult, she mentioned the idea of shooting her senior portraits in Los Angeles. Anyone that knows me, knows that I won't pass up a trip to my favorite place ever, Southern California. So, we set it all up and met her out there last week! Read more about the behind the scenes in this blog post! Before leaving on the trip, we wanted to make sure to capture a few in her cheer uniform at her school and a few inside the studio, which turned out great!

Once we got to Los Angeles, there were so many amazing places on my location list that it was hard to narrow it down into just one day. We mostly stuck to Venice Beach and Santa Monica. We wanted very natural, organic California inspired images, along with a few night shots under the lights and amusement park on the Santa Monica Pier. I am beyond thrilled with the way everything turned out and I'm so looking forward to sharing all Laney's images soon!

Destination Senior : LOS ANGELES - Laney Albers - Wesclin High School - Clinton County Senior Photographer

Recently we were lucky enough to travel to Los Angeles, California with one of our local Wesclin High School Seniors, Laney! I chose to bring my sister, Lydia, as an assistant. Super Excited does not even come close to how we felt about our trip! We took off on Sunday evening, starting out with parking our car and running across 3 parking lots in a monsoon (nothing like flying almost 4 hours in wet clothes). After finally checking our luggage and getting through security, we find out our flight was delayed. A quick ten games of hangman and our flight was ready to leave. We made in into LAX at 1:00pm, picked up our rental car and headed Santa Monica, where is stayed for the next three days. Image ImageImageImageImage

We started out on Monday at a cute little place, recommended by a few locals off Ocean Avenue called Cora's Cafe. We had the BEST breakfast ever! :)))

Image

After breakfast went did a little shopping and scouting for locations for Laney's shoot the next day! We looked mainly in a few of my favorite places in Venice and Santa Monica. Image

It was a long day, so we stopped in a Jamba Juice where Lydia needed a break ;) Image

That evening, of course we had to get our authentic Mexican fix so we had dinner at a place called La Sandia in Santa Monica Place. Chicken Fajitas = insane.

After a long day of scouting and shopping, a margarita and a full night's rest, we were more than ready to photograph Laney the next day! Some of my favorite images came from The Santa Monica Pier and we absolutely can't wait to show those off!!

Lydia and I together at the pier during the shoot :) Image

And, per the norm, this fair skinned girl ended up with a sunburn from shooting all day, even in the overcast sky.

All in all, it was a perfect trip! Well, aside from the six hour delay coming home, getting us back to Clinton County at 3:30am! Aahhh, the fun of traveling! :)))))

I'm so excited to show off some of Laney's images - Check back soon for the sneak peek!

If you are interested in a destination senior shoot, or destination shoot of any kind (we have a destination engagement in Nashville Tennessee coming up, soon!), give us a call! 618-407-4363 It's easier than you think! :)

Shepherd Family - Clinton County Family Photographer

Love. Love. Love. Every time Britnee calls, I get excited because I KNOW she has something sweet and unique planned. I just love her ideas and her family to pieces. When we went out to do this family shoot and she started unloading all of this from the truck, I knew it would be incredible from the start. And, I think it was - The images turned out incredible and I can't wait to see you guys later this week! xoxo, H. 2013-06-21_0001.jpg

Random Fact Tuesday : AMY

Random Fact Tuesday! Last week we did 5 Random Facts about Hillary so this week, we thought we’d do 5 random facts about Amy, our Creative Director.

Amy has been in my life for more than 10 years now (wow, B, I think that means we are getting old) and she’s one of the most creative (and craziest) individuals I know. She’s designs concepts, sets, backgrounds, assists on shoots and LOTS more!

So, 5 Random Facts about Amy…. (I especially love #1 & #5, haha!)

  1. My favorite food is watermelon. So it's no surprise I once won a watermelon eating contest 2 years in a row.
  2. I have 5 rules/superstitions for myself: never read in a moving vehicle, never pick up on the first ring, never wear a tube top with shorts, never try on a hats in a store, and never hang up the phone with my mom, grandma, or husband without saying “love you.”
  3. Last week I met my first celebrity, Arie from The Bachelorette/ race car driver, after a Cardinal game. My friend was positive it was him but too shy to ask for a picture, so she asked me to do it. I had no idea who he was and though she was crazy. To avoid feeling like a weirdo (in case it was just a regular guy) I awkwardly said “Hey I like your shirt. Uhh, can I get a picture?” Once we got our picture the other girls started flocking to get one too. I was mortified. (To add insult to injury, I felt really dumb once I realized his shirt said “keep calm and date a race car driver.”)
  4. My favorite thing in the world to eat for breakfast is Chilli.
  5. When I was 9 the Cardinals were for sale and I begged my Grandpa to buy them for me. Obviously this did not happen but, couldn't hurt to ask! So now I settle for wearing my jersey sitting in the stands like everyone else. But that's just fine with me! I love celebrating with thousands of other fans after a big win. Walking outside the stadium looking for a familiar name engraved on the bricks under your feet, listening to the infamous saxophone player and hoots and hollers of rowdy Cardinal fans... that's what makes it more than just a baseball game. It's an experience. And experience is everything!

The Korte Family - Clinton County Photographer

So sweet, as usual - that's how I would describe the Korte Family. Every time Stephanie contacts me, we always end up with fun, sweet portraits. This time, she wanted an entire family portrait, dad, sisters, kiddos and all! We had wonderful weather and the kiddos were in a great mood, too! All in all, I think they turned out really cute! Thanks again for a great session!

Lou & Trudy - Here's to 60 years!

Lou and Trudy are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary! So, we got together at one of their favorite places, their family clubhouse, and took some images to celebrate. They are such a sweet couple, still joking and laughing (and climbing up into deer stands ;)). If my husband and I are anything like them in 50 years, I'll be counting my lucky stars, for sure!
